Critical appraisal questions make up 40% of the marks in the MRCPsych Paper 3 exam. The good news is that it’s perfectly possible for an exam candidate to get nearly all these marks. Critical appraisal isn’t a difficult topic but it can be made difficult. Superego Cafe has an international reputation for making critical appraisal easy to understand. The course is based on our Critical Appraisal Two Day Workshop but instead of appraising clinical papers we’ll be going through hundreds of MCQs and EMIs as well as all the theory. MRCPsych CASC course sees pass rate double

The results of the MRCPsych CASC exam in January 2012 are published today. 218 candidates were successful out of a total of 575 candidates who sat the examination. The overall pass rate is 37.9%. Congratulations to everyone who passed and commiserations to those who didn’t. At Superego Cafe we’re celebrating the fact that over 70% of the delegates who attended our MRCPsych CASC course passed the exam. Over the years our pass rate has been consistently well above the exam average. Uniquely, the Superego Cafe CASC Course has never focused on getting through ‘hundreds’ of exam stations. That is a futile pursuit much beloved by some authors and course organisers. Instead, our CASC course remains stubbornly focused on improving interview techniques. It’s an approach that doesn’t suit people who like to walk out of courses thumbing big handouts but it’s perfect for those who want to pass the CASC exam. Trainee psychiatrists are finally realising that the days of learning 100 stations by rote are over. The CASC exam is about communication skills backed up by a solid knowledge base. It’s not about robotic conversations, checklists and prompt sheets. One day all courses will be like that of Superego Cafe!
ReviseNOW launches - a brand new website from Superego Cafe

As part of the reorganisation of its websites and services, Superego Cafe announces the launch of ReviseNOW, a website for psychiatrists in training. Over the coming weeks and months a wide range of resources will be made available. The high quality revision resources already on superego-cafe.com will be transferred to ReviseNOW. There will also be new revision material, all designed to help making passing the MRCPsych exams easier. The emphasis will be on providing high quality products that are great value for money. While study leave budgets have been slashed, revision courses have increased in cost dramatically in recent years. ReviseNOW is the antidote to rising prices you’ve been waiting for.
